Ted Turner
Turner was perhaps the first celebrity $1 billion giver. While building his cable television empire the outspoken mogul famously criticized other billionaires for not giving money away while they were young and still had energy and ideas. In 1998 he announced a $1 billion pledge to United Nations-related causes; to date, he has given $841 million of that sum. The philanthropist pioneer owns 2.1 million acres of land across 12 states and also 100,000 acres in South America. Ted has been married and divorced three times, his last marriage was with actress Jane Fonda.
Turner Ranches
With approximately two million acres of personal and ranch land, Ted Turner is the second largest individual landholder in North America.
