Israeli-American television and media proprietor, Haim Saban, has an
estimated net worth of $3.4 billion as of May 2015 according to Forbes.
Haim Saban was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1944. As a result of the
1956 Suez War, when Israeli forces invaded Egypt in collusion with
Britain and France, Haim, along with his family, and much of the
Egyptian Jewish community, fled to Israel. After almost going bankrupt
in 1975, he moved to Paris, France. Later, in 1983, he moved again to
Los Angeles. The Egyptian born billionaire and war survivor, made his
billions in television and media. Yet, he never attended college. Haim
Saban chairs Spanish language broadcaster Univision, which he bought in
conjunction with private equity firms in 2007 for $13.7 billion. In
October 2010 Saban settled a dispute with Mexican broadcaster Televisa
and negotiated a deal in which Televisa bought a stake in Univision for
$1.2 billion and agreed to provide the U.S. network with its popular
programming.
